At the beginning of the foundation course my concept of art was very niche, I was quite used to looking at the figure and identity which was also the first section of the foundation course however from the skills and techniques I had learned, I soon applied these thus slowly widened my visual style of art making it somewhat expressive, this is clear from the life drawings and also the portraiture specifically the painting.
Taking this further I then approached a new way to look at the figure through sculpture. I had used clay and also done a plaster carving. I actually quite enjoyed this as I think I know the basis of anatomy quite well. I also done another experiment using wire however this did not result in a profound experiment.
The thinking outside the box task was in my eyes the breaking point as I began to use things I would never. Using just a card board box I refined it making it into a wearable backpack then went to various locations some real and some being photoshopped, initially I had intended for the box to have no meaning.
This then had drawn me away from my generic art work of portraits as for the Balham triangle I only looked at buildings which I am not fond of doing. However through research of artists styles and ideology I had found a style that I particular like, which was illustration, however having some aspects of a traditional painting/drawing. To convey this I used mixed media.
New York I believe to be the instigator of me exploring new art styles and the ways I'm able to link back to majority of the things I have learned so far on the course and apply them together. After New York I took a sudden interest in illustration and working in a very graphic way resulting in this for my final piece.
